Post op MTF or FTM who have experienced delayed tissue healing as a result of GRS.

I am trying to connect with other post op MTF or FTM who are currently experiencing or have experienced in the past, tissue healing issues from GRS. In particular Granulated tissue. People who have received silver nitrate or other treatments to reduce healing time; short or long term chronic complications as a result of granulated tissue. If you have experienced any of the above I would like to share information with you in hopes of gaining knowledge regarding this issue.

Thank you,

Regards,

Christine

Have you tried/contacted Dr. Cam Bowman in Vancouver? I know of one woman who was having similar issues, and he was able to help her out.

Also, what about Dr. Marci Bowers in Colorado? http://www.marcibowers.com/grs/gender.html

She might be able to advise?

Sorry that I continue to be the one answering your questions. I don't work at the THP anymore, but what about calling Lukas Walther (604.734.1514 x 2) to see if he can connect you with other persons in similar situations.

Good Luck Christine!,

Thanks Eric, I have tried silver nitrate treatments with no luck, I am currently looking into cortisone creams that I have heard may help. Most of the information on the web is directed towards granulation/hypergranulation tissue forming around feeding tubes (G-Tubes). Both silver nitrate and cortisone creams have been used with some success in that area. Granulation tissue is formed when the body senses something different and creates scare tissue.

This is not likely a topic most people wish to make public, kind of personal I guess. It is also not a topic that Dr. Brassard in Montreal wishes to acknowledge, seems he is under the impression that it will correct itself in due time. All of the information I have researched on the topic contradicts this. In most cases granulation tissue will not correct itself, treatment is required. In my case it has been four months with no improvement. I have been amazed as to how little health care professionals really know about granulated tissue, how little information is available on the condition, and how few people wish to talk about it.

Just another case of transpeople knowing more about trans related issues than the doctors. I will continue researching the condition with the hope I can cure myself. I would like to post my findings on this site for others in the future. As for doctors, I respect them greatly and know they have my best interest at heart. This is a new branch of medicine which is progressing, I am calling it transology .

I am a first year biology student with hopes to begin nursing studies in the fall of 2010. I am hoping that I will be able to direct my nursing education towards the trans community in the future.

Regards, Christine
